PayPal as payment method on Delcampe

Finally Delcampe has made the paypal move. Paypal is now integrated, along with moneybookers, to the checkout system. Many sellers were offering paypal already, but it was
necessitating extra work on the checkout process....not to mention that buyers were confused by not beign able to pay their invoices directly by paypal.

Here's the official announcement:

"
Dear member, dear buyer,

Until now, you have been able to use the Delcampe e-wallet to pay for the items bought on the site. But it was limited for paying via Moneybookers.

Many of you have been asking to integrate payments via PayPal too, as this system is easier for most of you.

Our team have worked in collaboration with the PayPal team to prepare a comfortable and pleasant solution.

It is now a great pleasure for us to announce that PayPal is now available for your purchases on Delcampe!
You can now choose to pay with PayPal, just like you could already pay using Moneybookers.

Today, more than 165 million people already have a PayPal account. This payment method is the most popular on the Internet after credit cards! "

I think this move may help delcampe recruiting more north american sellers and buyers. The more the better, for everyone.

Of course some delcampers, are not happy for some reason, stating that delcampe "has sold its soul" to paypal. To them I say: no one is forcing you to use paypal.

Another ebay alternative

Time will tell if this one is just another wannabe or a potential
viable online market:

Check out bonanzle for yourself.

I have seen already a few stamps seller there, as well as many others.
There is quite a few nice vintage jewelry and collectibles seller.
I have bought 9 items in my first 2 days there.

The site, let's be honest, have a very addictive aspect to it. It is actually possible to chat with your seller or buyers, make wish list for everyone to see (and who knows, maybe a secret valentine will offer you something from your list). You can share handpick listings from fellow sellers and share it with others....

On the other hand, the buying aspect get's a little time to get use to, and currently does not support direct sales to foreign buyers (you need to work things out with the seller before hand, but that's easy to do).

As a seller you can import your ebay listing in a click of the mouse..and a little patience because you are not alone and there is often a queue.

Come in and say hi!

Moving to France..again

Once again, I'll be moving to France for a little while (probably until the end of 2009 or early 2010).

I will close the stores for a week or two around february 16th. I'll need to upgrade some of my shipping cost to reflect my new location, but don't worry shipping will still be very reasonable and my combined shipping policy will not change.

France kiloware with souvenir sheet

My most popular mixture is back for auction. I dont offer this quality kiloware often because I have to wait until I have enough good stamps and souvenir sheet to make a nice lot. Ends august 23rd on ebay.

FRANCE stamp kiloware 1oz with mini sheet + high values
: This lot weights 1 ounce (28 grams). Great selection, very well mixed. Commemorative stamps only + 1 souvenir sheet and many higher values (including 3 and 4 euros airmail). HIGH QUALITY selection, well mixed, close-cut, single paper. I will also use a nice France souvenir sheet on your package.

This lot is SOLD BY WEIGHT (not by a specific number of stamps). You will receive 1oz (28 grams)

The scans below are from the ACTUAL LOT.

If you collect France stamps

If you collect France stamps here's a website you need to bookmark: Timbres de France

It's in french but it does not matter much since it is entirely illustrated and searchable by years. Almost every single stamps issued by France is pictured (all pictures are clickable and gave access to more information such as Yvert Tellier and Dallay catalog numbers).

There is also special sections for Semeuses, Mariannes, Ballons montes, airmails, Parcel posts, cancels, Sedang stamps and more.

Also: discussion board, ads and trades.

I love this website for a quick acces to YT numbers.

Something I found and I am glad I did!

This is unrelated to philately, but if you use internet a bit, and do regular search it is interesting:

This website will pay you for every search you make. It's free. I did start using it as my default search engine and it adds up nicely (you won't get rich that way, but at the end of the year, it can pay for some little extra stamps for your collection). They will pay you by paypal.

The quality of results is extremly good. They are taken from Yahoo!, Windows Live Search and Ask (and shortly Google) and are presented to you based on how many of the search engines they appear.

I don't usually post links unrelated to philately, but this one is a very interesting.

Euro versus US$

Well it is time now. I hold off as long as I could but I now will have to increase
my shipping cost on some items. When I moved to France in september, the euros was worth 1.36$. Now it is worth much more: 1.56$ and it will probably go as high as 1.60$+

My shipping prices were at cost back in september, meaning I now have to increase to follow the fall of the US$.

My price will remain honest and close to cost, and my shipping discount is remaining untouched. I will not change older listings, but all new listings will have the new costs if applicable.

I honestly hope that the rise will stop soon. The bright side for me, is that buying in the US with US$ can get me some great deals on toys for my baby and collectibles for my collections!
